Not asking for much - have small courtyard area which needs tidying (won't take long) - just lawnmower, weed-eater and some weeding - nasty Kaikuia (sp) grass.Once under control and hard yards done, then I can maintain. I presently have contractor, but unreliable / rough as (he's old, however he does best he can).I've spoken with various organisations (maybe PD boys could do or others on community work!) - absolutely no help / response.

I find it's always good to offer something in return, when you want something for nothing. Maybe you could offer to bake, or hem jeans, or iron some shirts! Just a thought.

there's any amount of gardeners in the local papers available but, for free! unless you're a charity you'll be hard pressed to receive charity with this one

If you are seriously asking someone to tidy your garden for free then unless you are physically disabled you really should get a life and some motivation. This is a Gardening chat channel, most of us love to WORK in the garden and reap the benefits of what we do. In this channel you will probably not find many people that look sympathetically at someone who is bone idle lazy.

Our local secondary school (Tawa, Wgtn) does a yearly thing where if you need help around your home or something you can let the school know and they send in strapping lads and lassies to fix stuff.It happens here at the end of each school year.
Another idea would be that if you are disabled there may be kids doing their Duke of Ed, or Scouts doing their Queen's Scout award.When I was doing the Duke of Ed some of my community service was helping a blind lady in her home.
Also, in our area there is a group of retired men who go around helping old people doing little bits and pieces around their homes that they would otherwise not fix because of the expense or difficulty getting reliable tradesmen.These angels in overalls are doing wonderful work and really making the day of the people they help.They don't actually belong to any organsation as far as I know, just good people.You could try a local church perhaps!(I'm assuming you are unable to do the work yourself in which case people somewhere can't wait to bless you.)
Hope this helps, but if it doesn't you could always do a Muriel's Wedding and light it on fire - perhaps wait until winter when it is less likely you will take out the whole street by accident lol.
