Convolvulus mauritanis, (not a nasty spreader type) Spanish shawl, Pimelia prostrata, arctotis, gazannia, mesembryanthemum, various coprosmas, ground cover straw flower (cant remember its name has a grey leaf) just to name a few. These will all give colour with both foliage and flower.

coprosma acerosa/kirkii/hawera/poor knights( one of my favs) are all good and tough. Pimelia, muehlenbeckia, selleria, prostrate manuka, Sorry all natives but I work in a native nursery and thats all I can think of.

pratia angulata is a lovely white flowered, easy growing, fast growing, sun or shade, almost always in flower, very low growing and dense . one of my favourties. And a new zealand native. Now known as lobelia angulata, but still commonly refered to as pratia.
